6 Ways to Refresh Your Home Office Space to Increase Productivity

Working from home is on the rise since 1995. In fact, according to a study done by Telework Research Network, this will increase by 63% in the next five years. Can we blame them? Working from home is convenient, economical, less stressful, and you get to spend more time with your loved ones while you earn!  Pretty great, right? But of course, there are some challenges to this type of set-up, too; one of which is that you have a higher tendency to be less productive. Since most telecommuters don’t follow a specific time, they tend to easily slip into slackness. The good news is that you can negate that dilemma by simply tweaking your home office space! Here’s how:

Buy a good chair Those who work from home know the struggle of sitting for hours on end to finish a certain task. Buying a chair that will reduce – or even eliminate – back pain is a must! Think of it as an investment to both your health and your career. It’s a no-brainer, really. You produce a better outcome when you are comfortable and pain-free! You really don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort. There are plenty of chairs that are built with both form and function in mind. Arrange your desk the way you want it You’ve probably read a lot of articles about keeping your desk tidy in order to increase productivity. That works for some, yes; but others thrive on organized chaos. Have you seen Albert Einstein’s desk? It will give someone who has a Type A Personality a massive heart attack! Away from the bedroom As much as possible, create a home office space that’s far away from your bedroom. You’ll be more productive that way. The bedroom is our sanctuary. We are mentally programmed to feel too relaxed to the point of somnolence when we see our beds. Build an office nook under the stairs, the living room, or even at the garage. Being productive is a choice. You really have to make an effort to separate your home life from your job even if you’re working from home.
